Walk or run, and raise funds for FareShare

FareShare is an official charity partner for the A2 Upstream Challenge on Sat 10th Nov. You can walk or run 20km or 50kms along the Yarra Trail from Melbourne to Donvale and raise vital funds for FareShare to cook meals. Register as a single participant or with a partner or a team and walk for meals.

How can you fundraise for FareShare?

Raising money for charities is a great way to support what they do and get your family and friends involved in a cause you care about. Our preferred platform for crowdfunding is GiveNow. Head to https://www.givenow.com.au/fareshare and click Create CrowdRaiser. There are plenty of ways you can fundraise for FareShare:

Birthday gifts

Set up your own crowdfunding page for FareShare in lieu of gifts for birthdays and other special occasions.

Host a meal

Host a meal at home and encourage your guests to give the gift of free, nutritious meals to those less fortunate by donating to FareShare.

Challenge yourself

Set yourself a physical challenge to walk, run, swim or ride – and ask family, friends and colleagues to sponsor you.

Host a workplace event

Get your workplace involved by organising a casual clothes day, cook-off, or bake sale.

Why do we need your help?

Running a food charity is not cheap.

FareShare does not receive regular government funding.

We need to raise $3 million every year to cover crucial operating costs and capital expenses. Without it, we could not keep our ovens cooking, our freezers and cool rooms operational, our food rescue vans on the road and our kitchen gardens flourishing.

Where will your donation go?

FareShare does not receive regular government funding to cover the costs of our operations.

Your tax deductible donation will help us to collect surplus food from supermarkets, farmers and other food businesses. It will also pay for the cost of running our kitchen, and then distributing food to hundreds of Victorian charities.

In addition to the wonderful support of volunteers, we are fortunate to receive pro bono help from many businesses to cover basic costs such as maintenance of kitchen equipment, packaging and cleaning materials.

This lowers our overheads and enables us to spend donations on rescuing food and cooking meals.
