Raise vital funds for FareShare.

Raise vital funds for FareShare.

By raising money for FareShare, you can make a meaningful difference to the growing number of people who need food assistance.

Every donation we receive empowers us to cook more free, nutritious meals for Australians in crisis.

There are plenty of great ways you can fundraise for FareShare! Here are a few of them…

Fundraise at work

You can help us make a difference by raising funds for FareShare at your workplace. A few examples include:

Host a lunch and encourage your work mates to support it with a donation.

Show off your baking skills with an office bake off, in which you (and preferably some of your colleagues) bake delicious treats that you sell for a gold coin donation.

Have a day where you wear FareShare red (or casual clothing) to work in exchange for small donations. Theme it differently every month for even more workplace fun.

Run a sales campaign where you donate a small portion of sales or proceeds to FareShare.

Many organisations will match or provide some funds if you’re participating in an event or conducting a charity fundraiser, like the examples listed above.

If you work in a big office complex, consider getting other organisations involved to help raise money so we can keep cooking free, nutritious meals for people doing it tough.

Fundraise at home

Help FareShare from the comfort of your own home.

Consider hosting a meal at home and encourage your guests to give the gift of free, nutritious meals to those less fortunate by donating to FareShare.

Set up your own crowdfunding page for birthdays, weddings and other special occasions in lieu of gifts. Most of our fundraisers use Raisely or Facebook

Is it time for a de-clutter? Why not sell a few of your unwanted items online or as a garage sale and donate the proceeds to FareShare?

Fundraise at school

It’s never too early to help raise funds (or food) for FareShare at your school by organising a fundraiser event like a wacky hair day, playground race, leftover lunch day,

We can even get a FareShare speaker to visit your school and discuss food waste and food security and inspire your fellow students. Email schools@fareshare.net.au for more info on this.

Or run a food drive by getting your school to donate essential food items to us.

Challenge yourself

Join an existing event like a marathon and get active as you raise vital funds for FareShare.

Marquee events in QLD include:

– Brisbane Marathon – June

– Gold Coast Marathon – July

– Bridge to Brisbane – August

Marquee events in VIC include:

– Run Melbourne – July

– Melbourne Marathon – October

– Great VIC Bike Ride – November

Leave a bequest

Nourish people with hope and dignity by leaving a gift in your will to FareShare.

Making a bequest is one of the most meaningful ways you can help people less fortunate.

Leaving a legacy allows us to provide dignity and wellbeing to vulnerable Australians in the form of free, nutritious meals.

Become a friend of a FareFuture and your legacy will be compassion, leadership, and hope,

Go your own way...

These are just a few fundraising ideas to inspire you. If you have your own idea (such as holding your own charity gig like Hans did – see image, left), get started on our preferred fundraising platform Raisely:

Facebook Fundraisers

You can also find us as a charity on Facebook. FareShare is a popular choice for birthday fundraisers and other landmark occasions, such as weddings, anniversaries and workplace giving initiatives.

Why do we need your help?

FareShare needs to raise $6.5 million every year to cook meals for vulnerable Australians. Without it, we could not keep our ovens cooking, our freezers and cool rooms cold, our food rescue vans on the road, or pay our wonderful chefs and staff.

Where will your donation go?

FareShare cooks thousands of free, nutritious meals for people in need every day. To do so, we rely on the generosity of Australians. We do not receive government funding towards our operations.

Thus, every donation means more meals. Your tax deductible donation will help us to collect surplus food from supermarkets, farmers and other food businesses. It will also pay for the cost of running our kitchens, and then distributing meals to front line charities.

In addition to the wonderful support of volunteers, we are fortunate to receive pro bono help from many businesses to cover basic costs such as maintenance of kitchen equipment, packaging and cleaning materials.

This lowers our overheads and enables us to spend your donations on what we do best – cooking meals for people in crisis.
