How a FareShare meal made Emma feel valued on Christmas Day
Emma got in touch with FareShare early this year to thank us for the chicken curry she ate on Christmas Day.
Although Emma spent the day alone, she said that our meal helped make her feel ‘valued and appreciated’.
“I was alone for Christmas but felt very cared for,” Emma told us. “I could really feel the care that you put into your meals. They really are appreciated. Thank you so much for taking the time to make these meals.”
Understandably, Emma didn’t want to go into detail about her circumstances but said that she has been living out of a caravan for a month now.
“It’s not fun,” she admitted, her voice quavering. “But at least I have a roof over my head.”
During this time, Emma began receiving meals from her local Salvation Army, including our chicken curry and our meatball curry.
“I’ve had plenty of these types of meals from the supermarket and they’ve got nothing on yours.”
She made a point of saying that, unlike some of the other store-bought and food relief meals she has tried, she could really taste and enjoy the ‘real chicken’ and ‘real vegetables’ in our meals.
“Yours actually taste good and it’s so great they’re actually nutritious. It’s so hard to get nutritious food while homeless.
“Please pass on this message to all of your chefs and volunteers so they know just how much these meals mean to people like me!”
