The New Frontier of Food Relief

FareShare’s shelf-stable meals are a new generation of food relief—developed to meet the real needs of Australians in facing food insecurity, particularly in remote regions and during natural disasters.

What Makes FareShare Shelf-Stable Meals Different?

Shelf stable meals are designed to perform where traditional food systems break down—whether it’s a flood-isolated town, a bushfire evacuation centre, or a home without power. They are:

✅ Nutritionally balanced and tasty
❄️ No refrigeration required
🚚 Easy to store, transport and prepare
♻️ Reduce food waste by preserving fresh ingredients
⚡ Ready to deploy when infrastructure fails
🌿 Co-developed with First Nations communities

These meals can support emergency response teams and disaster preparedness efforts by offering a lightweight, long-life food solution that can be pre-positioned and deployed quickly.

Built for Australia's Harshest Environments

To extend shelf life without compromising on quality, we use Retort Technology: a heat-and-pressure process that sterilises and hermetically seals meals in pouches—making them shelf-stable and easy to prepare with basic heat sources like hot water or a microwave.

We’ve developed, tested and refined a shelf-stable range with support from:
End Food Waste Australia (EFWA)
Queensland Department of Primary Industries (QDPI)

Reducing Waste, Increasing Impact

With the ability to preserve fresh produce, FareShare is turning potential food waste—like seasonal gluts—into long-lasting meals that can support our kitchens year-round.

Leading the Next Generation of Food Relief

FareShare is helping shape a new chapter in Australia’s food security—ensuring that even the most remote communities and challenging situations have access to nutritious, ready-to-eat meals that are delivered with dignity.
