The FareShare kitchens in Brisbane and Melbourne hit a big new milestone in 2025 – producing more than 3 million meals for the year.
The hardworking chefs and volunteers in FareShare’s kitchens made an incredible 3.1 million meals in 2025 – a 34 percent increase on the 2.3 million meals produced in 2024.
Every one of these FareShare meals will make a difference, by helping someone struggling to put food on the table enjoy a nutritious meal.
Travis Walker-Restrepo, SecondBite | FareShare’s General Manager – Procurement, Planning and Production, said the meal milestone was the result of the immense efforts of staff and volunteers focussed on supporting those needing food relief.
Travis said the increase in meals could be attributed to an efficiency-led approach in the kitchens, driven by the extraordinary demand for food relief in Australia.
With 1 in 3 Australian households facing food insecurity in 2025*, Travis said demand for FareShare meals had never been higher.
“We’re striving to service that demand for food through efficient practices in our kitchens, which allow us to increase production while improving meal quality,” he said.
The merger between FareShare and SecondBite has allowed increased distribution of FareShare meals to charity partners in several Australian states.
FareShare meals were transported more than 3000 kms via train and truck from the Melbourne kitchens to Perth for the first time at the end of 2025.
The meals were then shared with Western Australian people struggling to put food on the table through SecondBite’s charity partners in the state.
FareShare meals were also transported to South Australia and New South Wales and shared through SecondBite charity partners in those states.
