It’s November and as the charity partner for Good Food Month we’re back at the Night Noodle Markets at Birrarung Marr.
With as many as one million people visiting the Asian hawker-style markets over the next 18 nights, it’s a fantastic opportunity for FareShare to promote our message about food waste, food rescue and food poverty in our city.
Around 200 FareShare volunteers will be mingling with the crowds talking about FareShare’s mission and selling fortune cookies. For each cookie sold, we can cook two meals for vulnerable people. We are also selling Thermomix raffle tickets to help feed the hungry.
The festival features food from all over Asia, including drinks and desserts. This year there is more seating and space to enjoy the atmosphere, listen to music and watch the dragon dancers. Come on down and say g’day to our passionate volunteers. We’ll be there until November 27.
Ground-breaking French chef Flo Gerardin opened his new restaurant Ôter to rave reviews earlier this year.
Now Flo, who is passionate about tackling food waste, is opening the doors to the popular Flinders Lane eaterie for Sauvé – a one-off lunch on November 6 in aid of FareShare.
The special 5-course, set meal will feature Flo’s exquisite, nose-to-tail cooking using rescued and donated ingredients. You can watch the transformation from food ‘waste’ to mouth-watering meals from his kitchen bar.
The exclusive Good Food Month event is hosted by FareShare ambassador, food writer, critic and cook Dani Valent. Flo will also share some of his culinary secrets.
Sittings are at 12.30pm and 1.30pm and tickets are $190 including wines. All proceeds are in aid of FareShare. For each ticket sold, FareShare can cook 285 nutritious meals for vulnerable people in our community.

FareShare has teamed up with two ground-breaking chefs to create a couple of special events during Good Food Month in the FareShare kitchen.
French chef Flo Gerardin (pictured above) has been dubbed the “chef on fire”. His new Flinders Lane restaurant Ôter is one of the hottest eateries in town serving superb contemporary cuisine harnessing Flo’s no waste, nose to tail cooking philosophy.
On Sunday 13 November, you and your family can learn from a master – and fight hunger at the same time. The acclaimed chef, who takes pastries to an art form, will conduct a one-off Art of the Tart masterclass and help participants make thousands of quiches for the hungry from rescued food.
The fun, hands-on experience concludes with a quiche with a twist for lunch. FareShare is Good Food Month’s charity partner in Melbourne.
