Not everything’s a labour of love in the kitchen – and peeling a tonne of potatoes a week is one of them.
Now thanks to an industrial-scale device, it’s a task of the past for our volunteers.
Meet our Hobart potato peeler which can wash and peel 13 kg of spuds every couple of minutes. It can also peel parsnips, carrots, turnips, sweet potatoes and other root vegetables when required.
It should be a game-changer enabling our volunteers to focus on less laborious tasks to create 5000 meals a day.
A big thanks to our friends at Allens who provided a grant for the peeler par excellence, aka Bender. With the versatile potato in almost every FareShare meal, it’s a ripper.
